WATERWALLS PROJECT
An initiative put together by The City of Gold Coast, Gold Coast Water and Waste and Curated by Creative Road. This project aimed to transform ordinary utilitarian infrastructure into something that is alluring and attractive and reflects the unique character of the Gold Coast and its people.
We were commissioned to paint one of the water pump stations in the suburb of Hope Island. We brought in elements of Australian native flowers mixed with flowing water lines and a small pied cormorant, a common water bird found throughout the Hope Island waterways. Combined with the bright salmon pink base colour, the once boring and bland structure was transformed to stand out against its surroundings.
We still get locals telling us how much they love driving past it on their daily commute.
