WATER WALLS

CREATIVE ROAD & CITY OF GOLD COAST

Water Walls is an initiative put together by The City of Gold Coast and Gold Coast Water & Waste, curated by Creative Road. The project is a collection of nine urban artworks from local artists installed across public water & waste infrastructure all across the coast.

For this project, we were commissioned to paint the water pump station at Hope Island. Briefed to create a concept that responded to themes and stories relevant to the region, we developed a creative direction that brought together native flora, flowing water lines and a Little Pied Cormorant (a water bird often found throughout the Hope Island waterways). Combining these elements with the bright salmon pink base colour, the once bland pump structure now stands out against its surroundings. We still get locals telling us how much they love driving past it on their daily commute.
